This past weekend, I attended Spark Camp: Data, an unconference in Austin focused on using data to tell stories, whatever they may be. A month before, I was at News Foo, an unconference at Arizona State University that brings technologists and journalists together to talk about … whatever they…
1. The Hawkeyes and Cyclones sucked it in their bowl games on Friday. Glad i didn’t devote any time to actually watching them.
2. The Pac12 college hoops season started off well for the CU Buffs - a 40-point win? Wow. Iowa State managed to beat Mississippi Valley State (huh?) by 2 and the Hawkeyes actually beat Wisconsin.
3. I expect I saw the last Tebow miracle when taking a nephew to the Bears-Broncos game Dec. 11. Is it the Saturday Night Live curse? Maybe. Or maybe someone who throws for only 60 yards in a game isn’t cut out for the NFL.
4. The great outdoors is a good thing. It’s great to get out in the desert and walk around in the warm sun, even if you’re surrounded by a ton of people as we were on Piestewa Peak. Seriously, a guy using an oxygen tank? Even weirder was the guy wearing the fox fur. Buddy, it was 70-some degrees out and you were hiking uphill. But everyone needs exercise and the outdoors is a good place to get it!
